Plan Overview
Changes to the EHCP Coordination of Benefits (plan 168850) – Effective February 1, 2026
The Extended Health Care Plan (EHCP) policy regarding Coordination of Benefits (COB) for SGEU and CUPE employees is being removed effective February 1, 2026. Eligible employees whose spouse is also insured under the Extended Health Care Plan will now receive their own individual coverage. Claims incurred on or after February 1, 2026, will no longer be coordinated between spouses’ plans. The only COB that remains is the industry standard rule for dependent children, where the primary plan is determined by the parent whose birthday falls earlier in the calendar year. If you are affected by this change, you will receive a new Canada Life benefits card. Please update your information with your health care providers once it arrives. For questions, contact us at 306-787-3440, 1-833-863-0620, or benefits@plannera.ca.
